Recreation Oak Bay offers different one-day workshops every fall, winter, spring and summer.
Current Workshops
Anatomy of Combat Moves (15yrs +)
Are you a fitness professional that teaches a kicking or punching based cardio class, or you utilize kicking or punching in your clients training? This workshop will provide you with the important correct technique behind popular kicking and punching drills, and is instructed by certified martial arts professionals. Theory will be discussed along with an offering of exciting and challenging combat move drills.

BCRPA Weight Training Module (16yrs +)
This course covers how to correctly train using resistance exercises. You will learn how to work in a weight room and how to develop basic routines for others. This course is the prerequisite for the personal training course. Participants must have completed a BCRPA Fitness Theory Course.

Dynamic Back Health (16yrs +)
Do you often suffer from back pain during activities such as golf, tennis or activities of daily living? Do you ‘throw your back out’ from time to time? This workshop will look at your deep core function and teach key exercises to avoid injury and increase the strength, flexibility and function of your spine.

Are you or do you train an Everyday Athlete? This is someone who loves to train for the sake of training, someone who loves to sweat and work hard. Whether you are a trainer or a fitness enthusiast, this workshop will provide you with the tools to train like an Everyday Athlete, including exercise combinations, sample program planning and exercise technique.

Stop Your Bladder From Running Your Life (15yrs +)
Learn how pelvic floor function and lifestyle habits impact bladder health. Registered Physiotherapist and Pelvic Floor Specialist Jodi Ganton and Certified Yoga Instructor Melissa McLeod will teach you how to use yoga, exercise and lifestyle modifications to take control of your bladder.
