Parks in Oak Bay
Whether you’re going for a stroll, taking a jog or just enjoying the ocean views, Oak Bay offers many beautiful parks you can visit year-round.
Selected parks also have off-leash/dog-friendly areas (*noted below).
Parks
Anderson Hill
A lovely park to walk and enjoy ocean views overlooking Trial Island and the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
Carnarvon Park
Six outdoor tennis courts, sports fields and the home of Oak Bay Lawn Bowling Club and the Rotary Water Park. The Water Park opens May long weekend and is open May-June (11am to 4pm weekends only), and July to September – 10am to 6pm daily.
Cattle Point
Two boat launches and great views of Mt. Baker.
Firemen’s Park
Sports field and a playground.
Gyro-Henderson Park
Playground and greenspace.
Henderson Park
Home of Henderson Recreation Centre, 6 outdoor tennis courts (3 lit, 3 unlit), sports fields, playground, 1km chip trail with a fitness circuit around the nine hole par 3 golf course.
Native Plant Garden
Stroll around garden and pond areas which acts as a preserve for plants indigenous to southern Vancouver Island.
Uplands Park*
76 acre park with a number of trails to explore and an excellent example of a Garry Oak meadow. Uplands Park is also home to a number of rare plant species.
Off-Leash/Dog-Friendly:
- Off-leash during: January, February, March, July, August, September, October, November and December.
- Under full control of a competent person: April, May and June.
Willows Beach Park*
The jewel of Oak Bay with its sandy beach, esplanade, playground and is home of the Kiwanis Tea Room. The Tea Room is open 9am to 5pm daily from the last week in April until the last week in September.
Off-Leash/Dog-Friendly:
- Between sunrise and 9am between July lst thru August 31st.
Windsor Park*
Home of Windsor Pavilion, sports fields, accessible playground, 4 outdoor tennis courts. Enjoy a stroll through the Oak Bay Rose Garden located at the southeast corner of the park or the Accessible Scented Garden located at the northeast corner of the park.
Off-Leash/Dog-Friendly:
- Between sunrise and 9am between July lst thru August 31st.
- Between sunrise and 11am between September lst and June 30th.
- Dogs are not permitted on any portion of Windsor Park that has been reserved by evidence of a permit issued under the authority of the Oak Bay Parks and Recreation Commission.
Also McNeill Bay is *Off-Leash/Dog-Friendly:
- October lst thru April 30th.
- Sunrise to 11am May, June or September.
- Sunrise to 9am and 7pm to sunset July and August.

Weddings
Permits may be issued for weddings at the following Parks:
- Anderson Hill – 530 Island Rd
- Lokier Gardens – Esteven Ave and Musgrave St
- Queen’s Park – 1371 Beach Dr.
- Rose Garden – 2451 Windsor Rd. (at Windsor Park)
- Willows Park – Green space (we do not reserve the Beach) – 2740 Dalhousie St.
Allotment Gardens
The Municipality has 26 allotment gardens adjacent to Bowker Creek on Monteith Street available for Oak Bay residents to cultivate for a nominal fee.
There is a large demand for the current allotment gardens so there may not be one immediately available.
